Ubisoft to Offer Free Ethereum NFTs for Upcoming 'Champions Tactics' Game
Ubisoft reveals blockchain integration in Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, offering free Ethereum NFT for Warlords PFPs and in-game figurine access.
Ubisoft, the acclaimed developer behind Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, is continuing its exploration into blockchain technology. Despite initial reservations from the gaming community regarding their integration of Tezos NFTs in Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2021, Ubisoft is now set to launch a free Ethereum NFT mint for its upcoming game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles.
This exciting development was announced by Ubisoft on Twitter, where they revealed that the minting process for a series of profile pictures (PFPs) related to the game would be free, with participants only needing to cover Ethereum network gas fees. The Warlords PFPs, designed with a retro, pixel-hero aesthetic, are not just digital collectibles but also offer early access to mint in-game Champions figurines at no additional cost.

The total number of Warlords NFTs planned is 9,999, with 8,000 allocated for public minting, 1,000 set aside for the Oasys community, and the remaining 999 to be used by Ubisoft for future marketing and giveaways. Ubisoft is actively engaging with its audience on Twitter, encouraging interactions to be part of the allowlist for the NFT mint. They plan to select 50 random users from those eligible, granting them exclusive access to a private Discord server dedicated to the game.
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, initially announced earlier in the year, has been gradually revealing more details. Ubisoft is not just stopping at this game; they are expanding their blockchain gaming portfolio. In collaboration with Immutable, they are working on a new "Web3 gaming experience." Immutable is known for its Immutable X layer-2 blockchain, which powers other NFT-integrated games.
